Design Bureau of Machine Building is going to complete testing of a new missile for Iskander-M ballistic missile system in 2015, Vzglyad reports with reference to the enterprise’s General Designer Valery Kashin.
«We are going to complete the testing this year. But you know, anything can happen,» Kashin said at a ceremony dedicated to opening of memorial plate to the famous designer of missiles Sergey Nepobedimiy. He didn’t unveil characteristics of the new missile.
Iskander-M ballistic missile system is able to destroy small and area targets at a distance of up to 500 km – missile systems, multiple launch rocket systems, long-range artillery, aircraft and helicopters at airfields, command posts and communication centers.
In terms of combat qualities Iskander-M has no analogues in the world. It offers high firepower, maneuverability, mobility and high accuracy. It may be fitted with different types of missiles – cruise and ballistic ones. It may be operated under a range of temperatures from +50 to -50 Celsius.
