“GAZ Group” will invest 600 million rubles into the development of natural gas engines

“GAZ Group” entered into an agreement with a leading international manufacturer of gas fuel systems, Westport company.

The signing of the agreement of “GAZ Group” with the company Westport will make possible to produce natural gas engines of environmental standards Euro 4 and Euro-5 on the basis of a family of engines JAMZ-530, which have been produced in Yaroslavl since 2013. Under the terms of the executed contract in 2014 the production of a new line of gas engines for commercial vehicles will be organized at the Yaroslavl Motor Plant “Autodiesel” (included into the “GAZ Group”). The project is estimated at 600 million rubles.

Iraq receives Russian helicopters

Russia has begun to perform a contract for the supply of arms to Iraq. The Contract with Iraq has been signed primarily for the supply of helicopters.

Russia has received an advance payment under the contract for the supply of Russian weapons to Iraq and started execution of the contract, said Thursday the head of state corporation “Rostec” Sergey Chemezov.

“The contract signed with Iraq has entered into force, the production has begun, the contract was signed in Moscow during the visit of Maliki mainly for the supply of helicopters for the amount more than $ 4 billion,” – said Chemezov to the reporters in Amman.

In the second half of 2012 Russia and Iraq signed a number of contracts in the sphere of military-technical cooperation worth more than $ 4.2 billion.

AeroTurbine, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of International Lease Finance Corporation (ILFC), announced today it has signed a Consignment Material Stock agreement with Engineering – the Aviation Maintenance Holding (Engineering Holding), a leading independent Western aircraft MRO and parts provider and parent company of S7 Engineering, ATB Domodedovo and Sibir Technics.

This consignment spare parts stock has been established in Engineering Holding’s maintenance facility at Domodedovo International Airport in Moscow, Russia. Based on an analysis of the company’s customer requests during the last six months, the new stock consists of the highest demand components for the Boeing 737 (Classic and Next Generation) including, but not limited to wheels and brakes, avionics, fuel pumps, and actuators.

This joint project is the second stock established over the past year by Engineering Holding, which continues to pursue proactively the stock availability strategy in Russia to serve the most popular narrowbody Boeing 737 (Classic and Next Generation) and Airbus A320 family aircraft.

An agreement between Government of Ulyanovsk Region, United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) and Russian Technologies State Corporation on establishing of Transport Aircraft Engineering Center in Ulyanovsk Region will be signed at MAKS-2013 airshow. It was reported at the meeting of existing and potential suppliers for Il-76 program held in Ulyanovsk.

«The new enterprise will be carrying out assembly and overhaul of transport aircraft. Today a lot of aircraft are serviced outside Russia. The establishing of Transport Aircraft Engineering Center will change this situation. Russia to Finalize Kalashnikov Merger in September

The Kalashnikov Corporation, which will absorb major Russian small-arms makers, must be registered by September 19 when the country celebrates the Day of Arms Makers, Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin said.

Rogozin, who oversees the Russian defense industry, proposed a merger between Izhmash and Izhmekh, which are both located in the city of Izhevsk, in November last year. He later suggested that some other small-arms manufacturers should join the corporation under the famed Kalashnikov brand.

“We must set foot on a finishing line…and have the corporation registered as a legal entity by the time we celebrate the Day of Arms Makers in September,” Rogozin said on Thursday at a meeting on setting up the Kalashnikov Corp.

Tests of a new system of electronic warfare (EW) “Porubshchik” completed in the Moscow Region. According to the newspaper “Izvestia”, the tests were conducted by Flight Research Institute named after Gromov in Zhukovsky and now IL-22 with special equipment are undergoing state tests before delivery to the Russian Air Force.

A key feature of the new system is the ability of EW for directional jamming of radio-electronic devices, such as radar or control drones. “Porubshchik” is able to capture the activity of AEW AWACS, air defense systems Patriot, as well as command and control of unmanned vehicles in service with NATO. After detecting the activity EW system selectively induces interference in a certain direction at a given frequency and thus does not interfere with its own means of communication and surveillance.

Rostec to hand over the servicing of military equipment to its companies

Foreign importers of military equipment will work directly with Rostec holding companies. The corporation has proposed handing over the servicing rights to its companies.

Rostec CEO Sergei Chemezov signalled that it was time to make changes to the legal framework concerning military equipment partnership rights due to the present-day growth of the arms market. He believes that it is impossible to compete on the international market without the provision of high-quality maintenance and after-sales service. The corporation plans to announce this initiative at the legislative level in the near future.

Many large importers of military equipment are interested not only in purchasing end products, but also in acquiring technology and starting up joint production under a licence agreement.

 Rosoboronexport, part of Rostec, will continue to supply end products for military use. The holding companies will be able to service equipment and sell spare parts directly to foreign partners.

Russia will provide Serbia with an export credit for purchasing weapons and military equipment, including six MiG-29M2 fighters,Lenta.ru with reference to Jane’s.

The preliminary negotiations on delivery of the fighters took place during meeting of Serbian Minister of Defense, Alexander Vucic, with Russian Minister of Defense, Sergey Shoygu, held in Moscow on May 23rd – 24th 2013. According to Lenta.ru, Serbian Ministry of Defense intends to place a large order for Russian weapons and equipment; however, the details of potential contract are unknown.

The details of the potential contract may be unveiled in late May after the visit of Sergey Shoygu to Belgrade. According to a source close to the Serbian Ministry of Defense, MiG-29M2 fighters may be delivered to the customer soon after signing of the contract and it’s a great advantage.

Missile Delivery Prevents Foreign Meddling in Syria

Russia’s delivery of S-300 air defense systems to Syria is a restraining factor against possible foreign interference in the Syrian conflict, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said on Tuesday.

“We believe such steps are to a great extent restraining some ‘hot heads’ from considering scenarios in which the conflict may assume an international scale with the participation of outside forces,” Ryabkov said.

He refused to say whether the Russian-made air defense systems had been already delivered to Syria.
