The French to help to modernize the Sukhoi Superjet-100

French companies will participate in the project of modernization of the Russian passenger aircraft Sukhoi Superjet-100 (SSJ-100). This was stated by the President of the aerospace salon “Le Bourget” Americ Decimal, speaking to reporters in Moscow.

The President of “Le Bourget” did not announce details of the project of cooperation of the French and Russian aircraft manufacturers.

Sukhoi Superjet 100 is a Russian short-haul passenger airliner. Its first flew tookplace in May 2008, commercial operation started in 2011. The largest operator of the aircraft in Russia is the “Aeroflot”.

Russia’s new sub rescue ship conducts at-sea DSRV trials

Russia’s new Project 21300 submarine rescue ship Igor Belousov is currently conducting underway trials with the Bester-1 (AS-40) deep submergence rescue vehicle (DSRV) embarked.

The ship completed the first phase of trials in early January, according to Russian news agency reports. Further trials will culminate in deepwater testing with the Northern Fleet later this year.

Igor Belousov was laid down in late 2005 at Admiralty Shipyards in St. Petersburg, and was launched in October 2012. Delivery was scheduled for 2014 according to Tass news agency, but the Russian Navy will now receive the ship by the end of 2015.

In 2015 Russia is going to deliver 14 Yak-130 operational trainers to Bangladesh

This year Russia will deliver 14 Yak-130 operational trainers to Bangladesh and two more jets of the type – in 2016, TASS reports with reference to Irkut Corporation CEO, Oleg Demchenko.

“The contract for delivery of 16 Yak-130 operational trainers is being implemented in accordance with the schedule. This year we will deliver 14 Yak-130s to the customer and two more jets – in 2016,” Demchenko said at LIMA-2015 show held in Malaysia.

Bangladesh is the second non-CIS country to place an order for Yak-130 operational trainers. Earlier 16 jets of the type were delivered to Algeria. It was reported earlier that Bangladesh purchased Yak-130 jets in the network of a $1 billion credit granted by Russia and intended for purchase of military equipment.

Yak-130 operational trainer (NATO reporting name: Mitten) is designed for pilot training and combat missions. The jet is capable of destroying ground and air targets. It is used for training of future pilots of “4+”-generation and fifth-generation fighters. The jet performed its maiden flight in 1996 and was selected as the primary trainer of the Russian air forces in 2002.

The flight testing of new Russian MS-21 aircraft will be started in 2016, President of Irkut Corporation, Oleg Demchenko, told i-Mash at LIMA-2015 show.

“This year we will complete assembly of the first prototype. In 2016 we are going to start the flight testing,” Demchenko said. According to the CEO “MS-21 program is on schedule and we are doing our best to preserve it”.

“The major problem in the network of MS-21 program is the “black wing” (wing made of composites), – Demchenko said. – These are the brand-new technologies for Russian aircraft industry. Our country has never used them before. The road is long, but I think we are going to make it”.

MS-21 aircraft will replace Tu-154 and Tu-134 jets. Irkut Corporation is assembling the jet. Three versions of MS-21 seating 150, 180 and 212 passengers will be manufactured.

Irkut Corporation believes that the liner will outmatch Boeing and Airbus aircraft of the same class in terms of aircraft performance; it will be put into operation in 2017.

Su-30SM fighter will be armed with a supersonic cruise missile

Irkut Corporation will upgrade Su-30SM fighters operated by Russian air forces so the jets will be able to carry supersonic cruise missiles, Lenta.ru reports with reference to CEO of the corporation, Oleg Demchenko.

According to him, the Ministry of Defense is elaborating the corresponding program at the moment and raising funds required to implement the project.

It was reported earlier that Irkut Corporation upgraded Su-30MKI fighter operated by India so it is able to use BrahMos-A supersonic cruise missile derived from the Yakhont missile by BrahMos Aerospace (joint venture established by Russia and India). 42 jets of the type operated by Indian air forces will be upgraded.

Su-30SM multi-role super-maneuverable fighter manufactured by Irkutsk Aviation Plant (Irkut Corporation) was derived from Su-30MKI jets delivered to India (over 200 jets of the type were delivered to the customer since 1999), Algeria (44 jets) and Malaysia (18 jets). Russian air forces and navy placed orders for a total of 72 Su-30SM fighters. Kazakhstan is going to purchase four Su-30SM fighters.

Sukhoi Company filed an application to participate in a tender for delivery of fighters to Indonesian air forces, Lenta.ru reports with reference to the company’s press-service.

The model of the fighter offered by Russian company was not unveiled by the press-service.

It was reported earlier that Indonesia is going to put 16 F-5E/F Tiger II aircraft delivered from USA in 1980 out of operation. And the country is looking for a replacement for these jets. According to some sources, only two out of sixteen jets of the type are operational now.

In autumn 2014 after analysis of RFI (request for information) responses, Indonesian Ministry of Defense selected three finalists: Su-35 (Russia), F-16C/D block 52+ (USA) and JAS.39 Gripen (Sweden). The latter one is the favorite, according to sources close to Indonesian Ministry of Defense. At first Indonesia was also considering US F-15 Silent Eagle and F/A-18 Super Hornet, as well as French Dassault Rafale.
