Russian Airborne Troops can get an upgraded version of the 125-mm self-propelled anti-tank guns “Sprut-SD” the next year, which will be called “Sprut-SDM”. This was announced by the commander of the Airborne Troops Colonel-General Vladimir Shamanov.

“Sprut” modernized – has a high degree of readiness. I think that at the beginning of the next year state tests of “Sprut-SDM” will be completed and it will go into service,” Shamanov said.

Colonel-General also reported that six tank companies, which will be formed as part of the Airborne troops before the end of this year will receive the new T-72 tanks, “straight from the factory” by the decision of the General Staff.
