The armed forces of Vietnam will take delivery of 10 Su-30MK2 fighters

The People’ Army of Vietnam will take delivery of two Molniya missile boats and 10 Su-30MK2 fighters manufactured in Russia, Voenno-promishlenniy Courier reports with reference to a website of the Vietnamese government.

Under a contract between Russia and Vietnam for delivery of Su-30MK2 fighters, the deliveries should be completed in 2015. After implementation of this contract the number of Su-30MK2 jets operated by Vietnam will reach 36 ones. According to the website, these are the most advanced combat aircraft in the fleet of Vietnamese air forces.

Vietnamese Navy will take delivery of two Molniya missile boats manufactured under a license at Ba Son Shipyard; the boats’ testing is in progress. Under the contract signed by Russia and Vietnam in 2003, two Molniya boats developed by the Central Marine Design Bureau Almaz (St. Petersburg) must be manufactured in Russia and 10 more ones – in Vietnam (under a license). The licensed production was started in 2010; it should be completed in 2016.
