Tests of a new system of electronic warfare (EW) “Porubshchik” completed in the Moscow Region. According to the newspaper “Izvestia”, the tests were conducted by Flight Research Institute named after Gromov in Zhukovsky and now IL-22 with special equipment are undergoing state tests before delivery to the Russian Air Force.

A key feature of the new system is the ability of EW for directional jamming of radio-electronic devices, such as radar or control drones. “Porubshchik” is able to capture the activity of AEW AWACS, air defense systems Patriot, as well as command and control of unmanned vehicles in service with NATO. After detecting the activity EW system selectively induces interference in a certain direction at a given frequency and thus does not interfere with its own means of communication and surveillance.

Foreign importers of military equipment will work directly with Rostec holding companies. The corporation has proposed handing over the servicing rights to its companies.

Rostec CEO Sergei Chemezov signalled that it was time to make changes to the legal framework concerning military equipment partnership rights due to the present-day growth of the arms market. He believes that it is impossible to compete on the international market without the provision of high-quality maintenance and after-sales service. The corporation plans to announce this initiative at the legislative level in the near future.

Many large importers of military equipment are interested not only in purchasing end products, but also in acquiring technology and starting up joint production under a licence agreement.

Rosoboronexport, part of Rostec, will continue to supply end products for military use. The holding companies will be able to service equipment and sell spare parts directly to foreign partners.
