In the network of development of emergency services EMERCOM is going to purchase the latest twin-engine AgustaWestland helicopters assembled in Moscow Region, RIA Novosti reports.
Today EMERCOM has eight aviation centers, which are located in Zhukovsky (Moscow Region), Pulkovo-2 airport (near St. Petersburg), Rostov-on-Don, Nizhny Novgorod, Yekaterinburg, Mineralnie Vodi, Krasnoyarsk and Khabarovsk. The “Yuzhniy” aviation center’s (located in Rostov-on-Don) area of responsibility also includes Crimea.
At present the ministry operates more than 70 aircraft: Il-76 transport aircraft, Be-200 amphibian aircraft, An-148 jets used for medevac operations. EMERCOM also operates Mi-8 and Ka-32 helicopters as well as the world’s largest Mi-26 transport rotorcraft and light Bo-105 and BK-117 rescue helicopters used for carrying out search-and-rescue operations under severe conditions.
“State-of-the-art indigenous aircraft will be delivered to the ministry (Sukhoi Superjet 100, Il-76, Tu-214, Mi-8MTV, Augusta Westland helicopters, etc.),” stated in the “EMERCOM-2030: advanced state management technologies in the area of life safety”.
