Yaroslavsky Shipbuilding Plant has laid down the seagoing tug of project 23470 for Russian Navy’s Pacific Fleet. The vessel named Andrei Stepanov is the second tug of project 23470 designed by Baltsudoproekt bureau (Krylov State Research Center, Saint-Petersburg), Krylov Center says in its press release. The lead ship was laid down on October 30, 2014.
On March 24, Yaroslavsky Shipbuilding Plant OJSC and the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation signed a state contract for construction and delivery of two seagoing tugs under the state defence order of RF Navy.
The first tugboat is to be delivered to the customer (Black Sea Fleet) by November 25, 2016, the second one (Pacific Fleet) – by November 25, 2017.
