Nine airports will be equipped in the Arctic until 2018. This was announced today by the Head of the Department of engineering works №2 of Spetsstroy Russian Oleg Sirazetdinov.
He recalled that Spetsstroy is conducting the construction of a number of facilities, including – military camps, settlements and airfields radar in the Arctic region.
“Today we are working within the framework of contracts for the construction of three airports. However, for the period until 2018 there is a task to equip six more airfields (in addition to the three ones), for a total of nine,” Sirazetdinov said. According to him, in some cases, existing airports are upgraded, in some – the construction of new software with the possibility of long-distance flights and transport aircraft is conduted.
