Before the end of 2015 Northern Fleet will receive a measuring system that allows pinpoint noise submarines in conditions where they are weaker than the natural sounds of the sea. This was said by the head of the research complex of he All-Russian Scientific Research Institute of Physico-Technical Measurements Sergei Tsygankov.
“We are currently conducting the development work under “Batareya” which will culminate in the establishment of the measuring system for the Northern Fleet. It will measure the levels of underwater noise of nuclear submarines especially the fourth generation,“ Tsygankov said.
He said that often the noise of modern submarines of the fourth generation is much lower than the natural noise of the sea noting that the new system is able to hear even such submarines.
