The missile system similar to the complex “Oka” is being developed in Russia, Deputy Defense Minister Yuri Borisov reported on June 10.
“Why would we restore the old one, when we develop a new system,” Borisov said, explaining that the complex is created on the principle of “Oka”.
The deputy head of the military department noted that now the technology can improve the performance of range and accuracy of the complex.
Complex OTR-23 “Oka” was adopted in 1983. Its range is 400 km, so it does not fall under the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty, but it was eliminated in the framework of this agreement.
