Central Aero-Hydrodynamic Institute develops promising airliner


In May, scientists of the Central Aerohydrodynamic Institute (TsAGI) have completed first phase of research of perspective short-haul aircraft model. This airliner is a new generation one. It is designed by TsAGI in the framework of the Federal target of the program “Development of civil aviation technics in 2002-2010 and for the period till 2015”. The tests have passed in transonic wind tunnel of the institute.

Promising aircraft, which, as noted by developers, has no analogues in the world, distinguish two main innovation. The first is a wing of small-swept, allowing to ensure laminar flow around, when which there is no of chaotic pulsations velocity and pressure on the surface of and significantly decreases resistance of the aircraft. The second distinguishing feature of the new aircraft is the location of the engine over the rear edge of the wing. Such a choice of scientists is dictated by desire to reduce the noise from the overflying aircraft on the territories adjacent to airports.
