Russia kept its leading positions in the space industry despite intense competition after having performed almost half of scheduled space launches, Chairman of the Russian Government Dmitry Medvedev told RIA Novosti.
While presenting a report dedicated to results of the work of the government at State Duma, Medvedev noted that positive results have been achieved in the rocket and space industry over the last few years. 17 spacecraft joined Russian orbital constellation (total number of spacecraft included in the constellation is 134 ones – around 10% of the world satellite constellation).
“Despite intense competition, Russia kept its leading positions in the space industry after having performed almost half of scheduled space launches,” Medvedev said.
He noted that the rocket and space industry is being reorganized in order to improve its management system. The joint stock company established in the industry has already started its work. Medvedev reminded that a new state corporation would be established on the basis of this company and the Federal Space Agency.
