Russia Gives Trucks to WFP

Russia has donated 67 Kamaz trucks to the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) to support its work in Uganda and neighbouring countries.

According to a WFP statement, the vehicles were handed over by the Russian ambassador to Uganda, Sergey Shishkin, in Tororo last week.

They are part of a Russian global contribution to WFP of 218 trucks valued at $21m (Shs 60bn). They will be accompanied by mobile workshops, spare parts, technicians and an additional $1.6m (Shs 4.6bn) to cover related operational costs.
