Russian company looking at legal action over engine imports

Russia’s United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC) intends to file suit against German MTU for refusing to fulfill a contract to supply engines for the Russian corvettes, the company’s president said in an interview on 24 March.

Speaking with radio station Echo Moskvi, USC president Aleksey Rakhmanov said that the company would take action on the EUR24 million (USD26 million) contract.

“Not only have they refused to supply the engines, but also they have made moves in the court trying not to return the advance we paid,” Rakhmanov said.

Asked about the moves by MTU, a spokesman said that the developments were part of efforts to comply with German law.
