Multi-purpose armored vehicle of the latest generation BTR-MD “Rakushka” will entere into service of the Russian Airborne Troops in the spring of 2015, the commander of the Airborne Troops Colonel-General Vladimir Shamanov said.
“The series will be launched these days, the 102nd Tula Branch Division will receive the first set of 12 machines in late March – early April, on the basis of which the state tests has been carried out,” he said.
All the troops will get 62 machines within a year.
According to Shamanov, these models of weapons are designed to teach students of the Ryazan Airborne School. Also in the coming years as these machines will participate in parades, introducing Airborne Troops on Red Square, the commander added.
